The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) has unveiled a genre-bending edition of the JUNO Concert Series in advance of the 2013 JUNO Week. A diverse bill of homegrown roots, blues and world musicians will take the stage at Toronto’s Lula Lounge. Proceeds from the March 27 event will go to MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS.
The lineup shines a spotlight on Canada’s wide-ranging musical talent, including: violinist Jaron Freeman-Fox; world music group and 2013 JUNO Award nominees Jaffa Road; the Lemon Bucket Orkestra, a self-described “Balkan-Klezmer-Gypsy-Punk-Super-Party-Band”; folksinger Brenna MacCrimmon; singer-songwriter and storyteller Jory Nash; the haunting roots duo Scarlett Jane; blues and jazz vocalist and 2013 JUNO nominee Shakura S’Aida; and blues guitarist and 2013 JUNO nominee Steve Strongman.
Advance tickets are $20 and will be available March 1 at www.lula.ca.
